We’ve encounter so many tourist coming to the Caribbean and not knowing what to do in their vacations or missing out of several things they can do, the only information center is the one we have in Manzanillo so on this article we want to show you some of the the cool things you can do in your Costa Rica Caribbean vacations.
When we talk about the Caribbean of Costa Rica we are going from north to south in the Atlantic Coast of Costa Rica, this includes: Tortuguero, Cahuita, Puerto Viejo, Punta Uva, Manzanillo all the way to the border of Panamá where you will find Bribri, Gandoca and and Sixaola.
1. Take a boat tour in Tortuguero
Tortuguero is a national park located in the Caribbean North of Costa Rica, the way to get there is by boat on its natural river canals, famous for the beaches and its surroundings of wildlife and nature. The main attraction are the sea turtles where they nest on the beaches.
2. Go to the Cahuita National Park
Cahuita National Park is located in the Village of Cahuita, is a protected land of 2637 acres where you will find wild life, nature, beautiful beaches, great place to snorkel and hike or just take a walk and enjoy the surroundings.
3. Visit the Rescue Jaguar Center
The Jaguar Rescue center is located near Puerto Viejo, the main focus is rehabilitate injured, mistreated, and abandoned animals to take them back to the wild and you are welcome to go visit them. Entrance fee is about $25 at 9:30 and 11:30 in the morning from Monday to Sunday. More Info Here
4. Go Beach Hopping
There are so many diferente kind of beaches around the Caribbean of Costa Rica and close together that beach hopping is a great way to enjoy them. Between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo you will find more than 7 beaches in that strip, all with different sand and waves, there are some perfect for surfing like Salsa Brava or Cocles, other ones with no waves and full of reefs, perfect for snorkeling and kayaking.
5. Take a Chocolate Tour
Do you wonder how chocolate is made? Well here in the Caribbean of Costa Rica we do it. When we talk about the chocolate tours we mean the process starting from the plant until the final product. We have a bunch of Cacao farms around the Atlantic and they all offer tours.

At the end of the road in the coast of the south Caribbean Costa Rica we will find the Gandoca Wildlife Refuge, this is where the beach meets the jungles, next to the small fisher town of Manzanillo, one of the best places for snorkel, hiking, bird watching, you will find monkeys, sloths, all kinds of Caribbean wildlife and nature, there are natural ocean pool made from the reef where you can snorkel and watch a lot of diferente marine mammals, also there is the famous Gandoca view point, the cave, hidden beaches like Pablo Mena beach and Punta Mona.

The food in the Caribbean is exquisite, if you are in this parts of Costa Rica you have to try Caribbean food, we are talking about our famous Ron don, Pati and Rice and Beans which is rice and beans cook with coconut oil and a little bit of spice, it comes with chicken or fish and patacones.

On number 4 we talked about beach hopping, well this is one of the way the tourist love to do it, it takes around one hour from Playa Negra in Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo and in that strip you will find all kinds of beaches, attractions and wildlife, you will see monkeys and if you are lucky sloths.
